One person is held together by what holds more more people together
The Thalassa House Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychiatric Rehabilitation helps adolescents and adults with mental health difficulties to move towards recovery and independence in the context of a therapeutic community setting, using the tools of community living, group psychotherapy methods and clinical care. Our professional staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists, sociotherapists, nurses, non-verbal therapists and social workers.
Thalassa House is a rehabilitation psychiatric centre. Every year, we provide a complex 3-6 month rehabilitation programme for 160-180 adolescent and adult patients.
The term "therapeutic community" is commonly used in psychiatric rehabilitation to describe cohesive communities where patients have a significant level of involvement and responsibility in decision-making and practical aspects of running the community. Therapy at Thalassa House operates in a participatory, partnered democratic way, which, in addition to the partnership and joint participation of therapists and patients, also involves patients becoming helpers of each other.
The Thalassa House started in 2003 and is run by the Segély Helyett Esély Alapítvány (Chance Instead of Aid Foundation), a registered public non-governmental organisation.
