Psychotherapy services for adolescents aged 16 and older
Thalassa House primarily serves adult patients. However, we have long observed that there is insufficient capacity for psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care for young people under 18 in our country, particularly those over the age of 16. There are numerous professional arguments for treating the so-called “transition” age group (older adolescents and young adults) within a unified psychotherapeutic system.
To address this, we made a commitment years ago to participate, within the safely manageable and sustainable framework of our institution, in providing care for adolescents who have reached the age of 16. Although this is done with a limited number of participants, it allows us to implement a practice that considers not just the legal age of adulthood but individual factors as well when choosing the appropriate type of therapy (child or adult psychotherapy).
